The research community broadly promoted the launch of NIH’s new Health Research Funding database, developed by Humanitas. Virginia Tech posted the launch and captured the importance this way: “Did you miss the funding cutoff despite a stellar score on your U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant? Don’t give up hope.” The National Health Council (NHC), comprised of some 100 patient-advocacy groups and companies, was unveiled on Feb. 7, 2011 to align rejected projects with potential funders. The site has information from the 42 patient-advocacy groups, such as the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association. Researchers can post their information at no cost. Funding organizations must register and are the only users to have access to project information. To sign up go to http://www.healthresearchfunding.org/
